When most people think of the game Bingo, they think of older people sitting in a dark hall with multiple cards spread out in front of them. However, if they were to take a closer look, they might see a game that some call amazing. Bingo has a long history in America. It has expanded from churches and some parlours into one of the biggest games in the country. People play
Bingo online as well as in person and despite the popularity of online Bingo, the halls it originated are still live and running. If one were to look into any random bingo hall on any given night, they would see people of all ages sitting together. The purposes for these gatherings range from closing generation gaps to wanting to feel the thrill of victory to sitting down with friends that are not seen during the usual work week.
You can see children sitting with parents playing with dabbers on previously used cards. You can see women and men with large amounts of cards sitting in front of them scrambling to keep with the announcer. While more and more people turn to online games, including bingo, this game is one that looks to stand the test of time. It is impossible to recreate that rush that people feel when it’s their turn to yell “BINGO!” and it’s impossible to measure the amount of companionship that people of all ages get sitting side by side on a Friday or Saturday night. These are just a few of the reasons that Bingo will be around for the foreseeable future. Even in a time where technology encroaches on every part of our lives, Bingo is a way for people to come together, to share a passion and to have some good, old fashioned fun!
